Student Financial Plan
Every student in the East High financial literacy course will create a short term savings plan at the beginning and end of the course. Whether you plan to save $0 or $10,000 by graduation, you will create a plan. With limited knowledge at this point, do your best in creating a plan. You probably won't take several factors into effect for your beginning plan, but don't worry, we will discuss. Below is an example beginning plan.
Johnny Hernandez
I just started my 9th grade year and was hired at Fareway. I make $8 an hour. I'm only 14 years old, so I had to get a work permit, and I can only work until 7pm on the weekdays. Currently, I work one night a week from 4pm – 7pm and on Saturdays from 8am - 5pm with an hour lunch. This totals 11 hours a week. This gives me enough time to study and have fun with my friends.
After all of the deductions, I received my 1st paycheck for $120 (this is for two weeks of work, a bi-weekly check) I don't have many expenses right now since I live at home and get a ride to school. After my first check, I was able to save $60 before receiving my second check and plan to continue to save $60 from every check until I graduate at East High School. My goal is to have $6,240 when I graduate from East.
